Lighting up the Canal Lantern Event: 225 years
This December the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal will be lit up to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the Brecon Canal opening. There'll be stunning lantern processions and floating lantern displays at five canalside communities between Abergavenny and Brecon. The final event will be held here in Brecon at Brecon Basin on Friday 12th December. 6.30pm.

Talks at Y Gaer - George Overton - Overtaken by Steam
A talk by engineering historians Stephen K Jones and Stephen Rowson. This talk will cover the achievements of George Overton (1775 - 1827) - the early civil engineer and ironmaster who lived at Llandetty Hall near Talybont-on-Usk. Overton pioneered the use of tramroads for horse-drawn transport of materials in the Industrial Revolution when his expertise in civil engineering helped to shape transport infrastructure in south Wales. All welcome.

Brecon Jazz quickly grew to include concert venues as well as music on the streets, attracting international musicians as well as thousands of visitors. It is said that anyone well known in the jazz world has played Brecon Jazz. Brecon Jazz Weekend 2026 will be held 7th - 9th August 2026.

The Christmas Orchestra is back! Get ready to discover the magic of the festive season with a unique concert experience. On 27th November the tour makes a special stop at Brecon Cathedral, bringing the festive spirit right to your doorstep. The concert is performed live by a 16 piece chamber orchestra supported with full sound production and lighting show.
Borders Ensemble: Tales & Reveries
Join Borders Ensemble (a flexible chamber group for clarinet, violin, cello and piano) as they explore musical myth, fable and magic with their programme of music inspired by childhood and fairytales. The concert will include pieces by Ravel, Janacek, Rebecca Clarke and Frank Bridge alongside some more contemporary works.

Remembrance 2025
Remembrance commemorates the service members who have died in wars and military conflicts since the onset of World War I. Held at the Cenotaph in Brecon Town Centre, followed by a service of Remembrance at Brecon Cathedral on Sunday 9th November 2025.

Andy Fairweather Low came to prominence as the lead singer in Amen Corner. The 60s saw them clock up hit after pop hit. Following them into 2025 Andy’s The Invisble Bluesman Album entered the Official UK charts at Number 1 and the Spring tour broke all records selling 99% across the whole tour.

Count Dracula becomes convinced he’s got royal blood—thanks to a dubious link between Vlad the Impaler and the Prince of Wales. So, he orders a flat-pack coffin off Temu, books himself an Airbnb, and sets off for the Black Forest… only to land in Blackwood in the South Wales Valleys!

Following triumphant Met turns in Roméo et Juliette, La Traviata, and Lucia di Lammermoor, Nadine Sierra summits another peak of the soprano repertoire as Amina, who sleepwalks her way into audiences’ hearts in Bellini’s poignant tale of love lost and found. In his new production, Rolando Villazón—the tenor who has embarked on a brilliant second career as a director—retains the opera’s original setting in the Swiss Alps but uses its somnambulant plot to explore the emotional and psychological valleys of the mind.
