With the support of Noson Allan The Muse is thrilled to be hosting this show: Poems of a Space. This is the second album from the guitarist Jason Ball and bassist Aidan Thorne. All of the compositions on this album were written, arranged, recorded and mixed by the duo.
The concept of the album was to invoke nostalgia, rekindle a memory of a time and/or place. The pieces are engulfed in a fog of guitar ambience and measured 6 string bass textures.

As with their previous release, Archwilio’r Traddodiad | Exploring the Tradition there is an emphasis on experiences within the Welsh landscape. The song Banc Y Celyn, refers to the hill overlooking Aidans home in Powys. And the track Clouds, was written after a hike 
up the Sugar Loaf near Abergavenny.
Deeply rooted in jazz, the style carefully glides between written and improvised elements.

Vince Lee has been a mainstay on the South West’s live music scene for over 35 years. An authentic, virtuoso blues musician who’s band ‘The Big Combo’ have become almost legendary around the Devon & Cornwall area. In 2022 Vince launched a brand new duo with his partner and double bass player Sophie Lord who had returned to Plymouth after 10 years working as a bass player in London. Together they have played many prestigious blues festivals and gained a huge following on social media platforms for their blues music videos which have reached millions of people around the world. Their style touches on American roots music, jump blues, calypso, swing & ragtime.

The Brecon Jazz Festival and the Brecon Fringe take place in our small town every August. The Brecon Frazz Parade links the two events with a public parade full of costumes, characters, fun and community involvement. 

For months before the August extravaganza, young and old, creatives, artists and Brecon folk meet to plan each year’s festivities, devise artistic creations to parade through the town and put on great workshops for children and families that are either local or visitors!

The event has become a tradition that brings colour and a wider creative engagement in the festival that brings so much to our town.

London based blues rock guitarist Jack J Hutchinson has announced three intimate acoustic performances for the summer of 2026 the middle one being for the Club & The Muse in Brecon the only date in WALES. Showcasing the blues and roots side of his playing, the shows will feature new material written especially for the run, plus select covers of blues artists who have influenced his song-writing.

Brecon Choir Festival Finale! As the resident choir of the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach, Cappella Lacencis is made up of some of the most talented young musicians from across Germany. Hear pieces such as the extraordinary Jesu Meine Freude, as well as iconic pieces by the great Bach-discoverer Mendelssohn’s work for a uniquely powerful evening of two profound choral imaginations. 

Arthur first played The MWR&BC back in Sep 2024 for his very first ever show on UK soil alongside Becky THE BULLET Thomas who filled the special guest act roll on that occasion. Just over a month later he returned to play at The Muse and The Brecon Tap (before returning home to The States) alongside the links of Jack J Hutchinson & Michael Parker this time he returns alongside Becky once again.

Swing sounds from a wonderful lineup of in-demand musicians at Brecon Jazz Club.
This lively band include in their programme the often overlooked music of Annette Hanshaw, the 1920s singer whose wonderful music is filled with beautiful, meaningful songs full of emotion and expression, which Debbie Arthurs’ mellifluous, unaffected singing style suits so well. In the week of Brecon Choir Festival Rob will talk about 60 years of Brecon Singers of which he is the Musical Director and his life as a singer himself. Everyone welcome, tickets to be purchased on the door.

John Millington Synge’s riveting play of youth and self-discovery. Pegeen Flaherty’s life is turned upside down when a young man walks into her pub claiming that he’s killed his father. Conductor Paweł Kapuła brings a work from his native Poland to the stage as he makes his debut with BBC NOW this May at Brecon Cathedral - Marta Ptaszyńska takes the sounds of Vivaldi and transforms them into a new, almost surreal sound picture in A Winter’s Tale, written in 1984. BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist Sterling Elliott also debuts with the Orchestra in Schumann’s intensely lyrical and meditative Cello Concerto, and we explore Mendelssohn in cinematic fairytale form in his overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Although less frequently performed than some of his other symphonies, Beethoven’s Second Symphony is a snapshot of Beethoven at his most humorous.
