This month's talk at y Gaer will trace the history of Lloyds Bank in Brecon. John Gibbs has brought together an excellent team of speakers - Ken Jones, William Gibbs and Rosemarie Harris - to tell the story of Brecon Old Bank, later Lloyds. Following its founding in 1778, it grew rapidly to become the premier bank in South Wales. With financial interests in iron works and canals as well as agriculture, Wilkins & Co's willingness to invest in new ventures underpinned the growing prosperity of the county. Its closure earlier this year marked the end of an illustrious era.
This talk will be in the Beacons Room at y Gaer, starting as usual at 11.30. Sat 14th June, Free. All welcome.
